The Mixolydian Scale

The Mixolydian scale is the fifth mode of the seven church modes with the root in G, followed by A, B, C, D, E and F. This mode is very common in many forms of music; from Oasis to Frank Zappa. Much of the corny sleeze rock in the 80´s was based around it.

If you start the scale at G on 10:th fret on the A-string and work your way tonally up on the fretboard with three tones per string ´til you land on the 15:th fret on the high E-string (G) you´ll see that the scale is very comfortable to play on the guitar.
